be held in Mauritius from December 3 to 6, 2003.
The proceedings will take place at the Grand Baie
International Conference Center.

The Ministers and the representatives of agencies on the ADEA Steering
Committee will be lodged in the Mauricia and the Véranda. Reservations
will be made by the ADEA Secretariat, and you will be informed shortly
of the hotel in which you will be staying.
The Mauricia and the Véranda are located
near the conference center, which means that participants staying
there will be able to walk to activities. The Canonnier and the Merville
Beach Hotel are located 10 and 5 minutes, respectively, from the conference
center by car. There will be arrangements for transportation between
these hotels and the conference center.
Air
transportation/reservations
As December is a peak tourist season, we recommend that you make your
flight reservations now and immediately send your flight details to
the ADEA Secretariat:

Reception,
arrival and departure
Depending upon your date of arrival and departure,
hostesses will be at the airport to meet you and guide you to vehicles
that will take you to your hotel. Arrangements are also planned to
transport participants to the airport.
Visas
We
recommend that you complete the formalities to obtain your entry visa
for Mauritius soon. If it is not possible to obtain the visa in your
country, the Mauritius Ministry of Foreign Affairs will do what is
needed to ensure that you are able to obtain a visa upon arrival at
the airport.
If it is necessary for your visa
to be issued upon your arrival in Mauritius, please inform us by post
of:

your passport details: last
name, first name, nationality, passport number, date and place
of issue, expiration date

your flight details: date and
time of arrival, country where the flight originates, airline
company and flight number
Currency
exchange
The local currency is the Mauritius rupee (MUR). Current exchange rates
are as follows:
€1 = 33.09 MUR
$1 US = 28.30 MUR
The hotels can be paid using cash, a credit card or traveller's cheques.
Please note that traveller's cheques will be exchanged at the rate
applied by the hotel, which will not necessarily be the same as that
used by banks.
Agenda
You will find enclosed a provisional agenda for the meeting.
Documents
Documents will be sent to participants at a later
stage.
Exhibition
space
There will be an exhibition space in the conference center where countries
and development agencies can display their publications and other items
related to the theme of the quality of education.
Weather
The temperature in December should be between 25° and 30°C (77°-86°F),
so we recommend that you wear light clothing. Please do not forget to
be prepared for rain, as there are frequent rain showers at this time
of year.
Internet
Connections
A cybercafé will be set up in Le Mauricia for participants.
Le Cannonier and Le Veranda will also have a computer
with an Internet connection that you can use by purchasing internet
cards at the hotel reception.
The Merville Beach Hotel has two computers with
Internet connexions. The rooms also have a socket you can use to connect
your laptop modem.
Press
room
A press room with computers and
an internet link will be set up in the conference center for journalists
invited to the Biennale.
